BF6 Players Agree: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced turning to custom matches made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons found within the game.

Some of these gated guns may soon earn a place on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Challenge

One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Workaround

However, there is a solution: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if completing the missions in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are made easier in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

For now, the community continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
