Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases
Similar to the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games officially announced for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
